Benton Community is adding a computer science course for the 2023-24 school year. Benton now has two options for Computer Science. The new course will be an introductory level course that includes block coding and Python skills. This course will give students some basic computer science knowledge. The existing course is a co-credit course with Kirkwood that gives students a chance to learn higher-level computer science, which includes creating their own computer programs and games. They also earn college credit for this class.
Having two computer science class options is a great way to give students a chance to try computer science to see if they enjoy it. If they like it, they can move on to the college-level class.
