5W Students are diving deep into the U.S Constitution in Reading, Writing and Social Studies! Students are currently learning about Voting Rights and how different groups of people earned the Right to Vote. Benchmark Advance, Benton’s reading curriculum, uses nonfiction social studies and science texts every other unit. Unit 3, our current unit, correlates with the 5th Grade Right to Vote Social Studies unit! To enhance their learning on this topic, as well as being a cross- curricular activity, students are choosing one amendment to research, create a presentation and present their knowledge to their peers! Thanks to Benchmark Advance, Social Studies and Science is now intertwined within Reading and Writing and students are exposed to these topics throughout the school day!
